2.0It was once a favorite of ours, but we may not go back. Our family has visited Mars many times throughout the years. Our experiences seem to have gotten worse with each visit. It just seems as though the interior of the dining room has diminished (dirty) with no improvements to the facilties. The menu is limited and the food quality is now average at best.
We have a family and do not enjoy the smokey bar atmosphere. In addition, they don’t take reservations and we can’t wait over an hour (or two) with our children for a table to eat. Sure, there may be a lake view, but I go to a restaurant for the food. I’ll save the lake view for the beach. This once was THE place to go, not anymore. The last time we ate at Mars will probably be the last time we eat at Mars.
Once very good, quality has declined through the years.

5.0Mars Resort is the place to go if you want to transport back to the 1960’s-70’s North Woods Wisconsin supper club. It’s set on a beautiful lakefront lot on Lake Como. During peak vacation months, expect a 1-2 hour wait, but you won’t worry about waiting while you sip on a cocktail or two overlooking the lake & taking in a breathtaking sunset. Inside, there’s a party brewing with a livley bar and live dinner music entertainment from their legendary organ. Join in the fun by requesting to sing along into the mic. For dinner, any of the market fish plates are choice selections, or try the house specialty BBQ ribs for the carnivore crowd. Portions are very generous, so don’t feel the need to overorder even if you show up starving. I would definitely visit Mars again…the service treats you like you’re a regular even if it’s your first time there!
Huge helping, fall of the bone tender…..comes with a soup or salad, bread, fries or baked potato. More than enough to go around

01/09/2009That’s one of the reasons I like living in LA. There’s no smoking allowed inside the restaurants, so that you can actually enjoy your meal without worrying about the air quality.
