Over priced tourist trap

Those who think Middlefield is “quaint” due to the Amish( and don’t mind horse dookie on the streets) love this place. It’s expensive imo for what you get.
They serve an “Amish” family meal for around $15-20( ?) lLast time i got it was with a large group and $20 so not sure how much it would be for individuals but it sure wasn’t worth it. they “neglected” to refill any food( even when asked) and didn’t bring enough for everyone to get more than a tablespoonful the first time around.
Of course most of the Amish in Middlefield don’t eat there, they eat at MickyD’s like every one else ;) but some of the servers have been Amish if you really want to see Amish people…hint they look like everyone else but have different clothes (;))
It’s not that the food is bad it is just way overpriced.
Their breakfast sausage tastes really weird, greasier than normal and some odd spice i really hate. They only serve breakfast on Sat and Monday( I think, check if you want to go for breakfast)
Their chicken noodle soup can be really good if they use the thick homemade style noodles but they don’t always use them. Their dinner rolls are good. Their pies are ok some good, some like coconut and bananna cream are too starchy tasting. ( my mil makes delicious pies so maybe i’m spoiled)
Usually i get a hot sandwich, roast beef, turkey or pork with mashed potatoes and take 1/2 home. The salad bar is pretty good, i like the carrot and raisin salad and the potato salad although it is like mashed potatoes with potato salad ingredients, odd but tasty… although if they are busy it gets messed up and they don’t clean it up, so potato salad in the jello type deal. It is around $3 to add it to a meal ( last i went and got it) like i said not cheap, easily $10 without a beverage or dessert for lunch, which is a lot for Middlefield… cheaper but as good is the bowl of soup ( if it’s homemade style fat noodles i get the chicken noodle) and rolls, around $5 with a beverage. I like the date pudding, very sweet but kind of like a moist gingerbread with a butterscotch type sauce.
the service can be rushed and not so helpful or good, just depends on who you get.
the food is good, i just always feel totally ripped off when i pay for it. they also sell bread and bakery items at the check out if you are still hungry

Hot Sandwich

Good juicy pork, beef or real turkey( never got the meatloaf) on thick homemade bread with mashed potatoes( i think they might also really be real) and gravy. they have a 1/2 order but it isn’t much cheaper now so we take 1/2 home. with a salad bar or dessert you are stuffed. imo the date pudding is better than the pies , stay away from the cream pies as they taste starchy. If it were not so expensive i’d rate it higher.
