I live in Princeton, and flip flop between Masala Grill and Mehek. (Completely avoiding the very greasy Kalluri Corner.) Both places have benefits and drawbacks. On it’s BEST day, Masala grill is better than Mehek, but Masala also has some bad days (really inconsistent, the same dish can be entirely different from one day to the next) and Mehek is more consistently above-middle-of-the-road. Masala Grill has a central kitchen, which is a bad idea here – it looks chaotic and not-so-clean. The dining room, while it has undergone some upgrades (like a much-needed new floor) is still a bit shabby. The worst is the service/timing. A meal can easily take 30-45 minutes to come out of the kitchen and when ordering takeout, they will tell you it’s 20 minutes, but you go there and wait an ADDITIONAL 25. If we are hungry and wanting takeout in 20 minutes, we call Mehek. If we have the time to wait, and it’s a weekend (better cooks on weekends) we call Masala Grill.

Always a good meal with a lot of people. BYOB but make sure it cuts through the spice!!
