Maspeth Pizza, no frills no fuss,has the closest thing to a classic New York Pizza of any I’ve tasted in the whole city. This is pizza in the real Neopolitan tradition, essentially a tomato pie, not a cheese monster.

When I finally got to Naples Italy I tried to find the origins and original pizza, afraid that it would disappoint me and that it would turn out that the NY style was just Americanized—but NO! this was the real thing, the pizza of my Brooklyn youth. “Maspeth Pizza”s pie comes closer to that Uber-pizza than any other I’ve had in this neighborhood, or indeed City.
