After the Italian honeymoon, I had serious pizza withdrawal. The American version of the pie has too sweet of sauce, too spongy and flavorless of a crust, and gobs of glue-y oily cheese. You eat a piece and feel each one of those empty calories you ate. Contrasted with flavorful, fresh Italian pizza that puts a spring in your step, I came to the conclusion that the two should NOT share a name! Enter Mezza Luna. Here is the healthy (well, relatively, and still very indulgent) and scrumptious pizza missed.In the Italian tradition, there are lots of inventive flavor combos, baked to order in wood burning ovens. The price is right, too. Irecently ordered a buch of their pizzas for a family gathering and everyone aged 7- 70 agreed: Mezza Luna rocks!
