eh, ok

I revisited(11/08) Mi Casa after a long hiatus. Things have slipped on the menu. Most of the items my friends ordered were kind of Sysco-like, Just very average and plain, not bad just not special. I ordered the pork chili verde which was quite tasty, but the other items had plenty of room for improvement. Try Azteca in Clarksville for a more authentic mexican flavor.

Dishes I tried:

Skip Qdoba, eat at Mi Casa

I can’t imagine why the new Qdoba next to Mi Casa has any business. People just need to visit Mi Casa once to see the difference between real Tex Mex and the wet, sloppy mess that comes off the Qdoba assembly line.

To start with, Mi Casa has my favorite salsa of any Mexican restaurant in HoCo. It’s spicy but tone down by the unexpected presence of cucumber in the mix. Yummy.

The menu is pretty standard with some special items like the Chile Verde (which I spent months trying to duplicate at home) and the Redwood Enchilada with beef, chicken, and pork.

My usual order is the beef fajita. The meat is well seasoned and cooked so that it has a crust but still tastes like beef. The guacamole that comes with it also rocks.

Not sure what you want? The combos offer a wide variety of Tex-Mex favorites. I love the tamales and chile rellenos but the enchiladas don’t suck either.

Yum! seared beef that’s marinated so it tastes good all by itself. bonus points for the garlicky guacamole on the side and homemade tortillas.

Not a traditional enchilada but a stack of corn tortillas filled with cheese, shredded beef, pork, and chicken, all of which are delicious. Great for when you can’t decide what kind of enchilada you want.

A green chile, tomatillo, and pork concoction that is pure heaven on a cold winter’s night.

I have no idea why they call this a relleno but it’s delicious. Imagine a sort of stir fry with Mexican-spiced chicken, spinach, and mushrooms. Whatever it’s called, it’s darn tasty.

There’s another dish (Sabrosa?) that’s pretty much the same but with shrimp which sounds good but isn’t that much better.
