Mona, Korean & Japanese Restaurant

I have visited the Mona (as we say) twice, for dinner.
They offer korean and japanese fare, such as sushi but also cooked meat items.

I have only tried the beef bulgogi and korean dumplings, but it is served with a variety of side items including rice, broccoli in peanut sauce, bean sprouts, cucumber, cabbage, and excellent kimchee. All side items are served in their own dish, to be shared amongst the table (rice excluded). Everything I have tried is good, but those unfamiliar with kimchee should not be surprised to find it is served cold here. They also have a good selection of asian beers and liquors, though I have no comment on them.

The exterior of the building is, no doubt, frightening, as it looks shoddy and is located in a run down part of town. The parking lot is often empty as well, but do not be fooled.

The dining area is quiet and clean (and often empty), and the wait staff is always friendly and attentive. There was little wait on our food when we visited.

I love this place! Did not know how good the restaurants here are, until eating out of town. The food here is really great. I’ve been eating here for years. If you are not familiar with Korean food come at lunch and get a lunch box. Bulgogi is typically popular with Americans. The food is always fresh and prepared quickly. Service is typically very good. Once you get turned on to really good food like this you won’t want that disgusting Americanised Chinese food. The kimbap is really good, however Kyung Sung has the best mandoos. I’ve never been disappointed at this place, and I’m very picky.
