Since first stumbling upon these custardy, crispy but chewy French pastries at Le Boulangerie, I’ve been obsessed with them (and proud to have spread that obsession too). Mrs. London’s has a good version of these, available on weekends during the year and sometimes weekdays during track. The carmelized burnt outside contrasts with the chewy inside. Its not overwhelming sweet or eggy like some custards can be.

Sugar and butter. Need I say any more?

Like drinking a bar of melted chocolate. It’s very rich, great on a cold snowy day, but I think they give too much. The richness is amazing for the first quarter of the drink, then it becomes overwhelming. Good for sharing or dipping biscotti!
