5.0Muzita Abyssinian Bistro is a great Ethiopian/African restaurant on Park (and near Adams Avenue). Just given this location, you can assume that the restaurant is pretty trendy, and it fits the bill. It has cute outdoor seating, a comfortable (not too fancy, but not too relaxing) atmosphere, and really friendly staff; jokes were made, suggestions were given, and water was filled REALLY fast.
The real differentiating factor from nearby restaurants is its cuisine; Ethiopian just isn’t as common as other fare, such as Italian, American, etc.. The portions at first appeared small, but they are really filling; I am also certain they “appeared” small only because the plate was gigantic. An appetizer (Teff Encrusted Bamya) and main dish (Siga Kilwa) was more than enough for 2 of us (see reviews below. It was delicious, and very fun to grab all the food with the injera (pancake/crepe to eat food with). To accompany your food, they have very flavorful, imported Ethiopian beer. The beer was both sweet and bitter, and offered a unique flavor that I thoroughly enjoyed having.
Okra coated in teff (type of grain). We were going to order sambusa, but the waiter suggested this. It could have used a bit more spice to it, but it had a nice flavor. There is also plenty of it to go around.
Grass-fed beef with spices. A very flavorful dish, with some spiciness thrown in. It has that perfect amount of spiciness that doesn’t overwhelm, but complements the food well. The meat also was nice and chewy, but it lacked something to make it 5 stars. I can’t put my finger on it (not literally, since that is how you eat it though :) )
