There is just too much great bbq in this city! This restaurant shares space with a Shamrock Gas Station. The locale is peculiar but the food is amazing! Tender ribs, tasty pulled pork and as they claim, “the best french fries in Kansas City”!

I saw this restaurant on the food network and had to try it right away!

Hands down, best BBQ I’ve had. I guess I shouldn’t have expected anything less from Kansas City, but thanks to Mizzouatheart’s recommendation and backed up by Anthony Bourdain’s ‘Top 13 Places to Eat Before you Die" I made sure I stopped in for a bite at Oklahoma Joe’s.

Located in Kansas City near the border of Kansas and Missouri, you might find Oklahoma Joe’s gas station location a little strange. No flash or frills, just really good BBQ. Inside you’ll find a gas station convenient store on one side and Joe’s on the other. The menu is on the blackboard on the wall. Figure out what you want before you step up to the window.

Even before we got to KC, I knew I must have the Carolina! Pulled pork with a pile of spicy slaw all on a buttered bun…AMAZING! My boyfriend had the Hog Heaven which was pulled pork and smoked sausage, also to die for. Add in a couple of beers and some Texas toast and you have yourself the perfect lunch. And for less than $20? Unheard of! It also will revitalize you after a long ride in the car.

If you’re anywhere near KC make the trip to Oklahoma Joe’s. You will not be disappointed!

after a round-about taxi ride (w/a questionable taxi driver), we finally arrived at this quite popular bbq establishment for lunch – and to much satisfaction, oklahoma joe’s lived up to all my expectations of a deliciously meaty bbq meal! if i ever find myself in kansas city again, i would gladly make another trip to oklahoma joe’s…in a flash.

you can’t get better the bbq in a gas station. ’nough said.
