A Half Hearted Theme Bar
I mosied in on a busy Shark’s night and seated myself. The table I was at was wobbly which is a pet peeve of mine. I ordered the Ben Fishing and a 32 ounce Newcastle. They told me the Newcastle was a newly added beer on tap and that’s always a good thing. The bad thing was that when it arrived it was sitting in a 32 ounce plastic excuse for a beer mug (get a rope). Honestly, no real self respecting saloon would be caught dead doing that. The Ben Fishing arrived and was very tasty. The fish was moist and wasn’t lost in the coating nor too greasy. The meal also came with two choices of sauce, tartar or cocktail. The fries were the standard french fry cut as opposed to the thick English “chip” cut. I only wish there had been more fish. There were 3 pieces, about 3 inches across and a half inch thick. The meal was served in a chintzy plastic basket with a paper lining. The waitress was pleasant enough and the wait not too long. That being said, I did leave still feeling hungry. As far as a rustic saloon, it’s a bit of a laugh. Drop some sawdust on the floor, get some sturdy tables, classic country/western music, decent food portions, real beer mugs and plates then I’d be happy to hitch my horse outside again.
