Good for some dishes, just OK for others. I didn’t leave the place raving about the meal (except the trout entree which was delish) and that’s sad considering lunch was almost $100 (for 2 entrees, 1 app, 2 beverages).
Appetizer-
Smoked Tasmanian Trout with Organic egg, Pancetta Vinaigrette, and a crispy potato cake- This was SO SO good, the best part of the meal in my opinion—crispy potato cake (kind of like a gourmet hash brown) topped with a delicious smoked trout (tasted like a smoked samon or sashimi almost) and a yummy egg yolk which you break open and mix into the rest of the dish. It was so good..we were licking our spoons and mopped up any egg yolk-sauce on the plate with the nice crunchy rolls they give you when you arrive. The Pancetta Vinaigrette was amazing alone- pancetta bits, olive oil, chives..maybe some bits of caramelized onion..heaven!
Entrees:
Berkshire pork- a few big slices of brined pork served on top of mash and sauteed spinach—nothing special about this dish and the pork was kind of tough and dry. It almost tasted like a ham, which is fine but not as an entree for me! The mash and spinach were also very mediocre.
Wild Mushroom Pot Pie- Super flaky crust, almost like a croissant..buttery and delicious! The creamy mushroom filling (porcinis mostly) was good, and had nice cruncy pistachios in it..but was lacking something. Pretty good dish though I wouldn’t recommend ordering it as an entree unless you really love rich, heavy food.
The Service was pretty good but a little slow at times and it wasn’t particularly nice, just standard good service.
Altogether, it’s a pretty good restaurant, but only one dish really stood out to me (the trout appetizer) and the rest were good but not fantastic. Service is the same.
