We came here because this place was rated quite well on Citysearch, but I’m always hesitant about Citysearch ratings when it comes to sushi. But in this case, the reviewers were right! This small restaurant on the edge of Japantown in San Francisco is intimate and has very friendly service. But you know all of that means nothing if the fish ain’t fresh. And luckily, this restaurant’s fish is pretty darn good.
The thing I remember most about this sushi place is that they had a special of albacore toro nigiri that night, for something like $4.50 or $5.50 for 2 pieces. I ordered it just to try it out… and it tasted just as good as regular toro, at 1/3rd the cost! It was so good, I didn’t want to share it with any of my friends… but I did. And after I did, we ordered 4 or 5 more orders because both of them fell in love with it too. We would have ordered even more, except they ran out!
I think the other sushi was pretty good, but I do remember one dish that was a disappointment – it was some dish that involved skewers of scallops and mushrooms… i seem to remember being under the impression that it would be a dish of bacon wrapped scallops. however, each morsel of food came on a separate skewer, and there was a total of something like 2 scallops, 2 mushrooms, and 2 pieces of bacon, so it was kind of a rip off and not that good.
but really, who cares. come here for the fish!
