Events at the Ordway or Xcel have a way of suddenly filling the tables. Pazzaluna is known for its extensive wine collection, which includes more than 60 reds, from Barbera to Dolceta. But those looking for more go for the Rose di Pesca martini, which is infused with peach bitters and a touch of tarragon simple syrup. Enjoy happy hour Monday through Friday from 4pm till 6pm and again from 9pm till 10pm when taps, ultimate martinis and cosmos and the restaurant's famous margherita pizza are all half-price. May through September, Pazzaluna features an outdoor dining patio that's great for soaking in the sun and people watching. Under a new chef in early 2009, Pazzaluna's famous menu got a bit of a makeover. Many of the same hearty and delicious entrees are still on offer, like walleye pike and filet mignon. But added is some lighter fare and always-delicious risottos, like the asparagus risottos drizzled with truffle oil.

The award-winning and critically acclaimed Bar at Pazzaluna Urban Italian is an energetic and fun place to meet after work, before an event at the Ordway, Xcel Energy Center, Roy Wilkins Auditorium or just to unwind with family, friends, clients or business associates.

Great for special occasions; very good pasta

I’ve been to Pazzaluna on many occasions ranging from romantic nights out to family meals to wine and dessert with friends. Their pasta is terrific, the wine list fairly decent, and the desserts top notch. Located in the heart of downtown St. Paul, Pazzaluna can make a great date spot on the right night; but be warned: if there’s a Wild game over at the arena, this place is going to be swarming with loud-mouthed sports fans. Plan accordingly.
Pro: Very good pasta, nice wine selection, good date spot
Con: Though the restaurant can feel romantic on a quiet weeknight, it is overrun with loud hockey fans and suburban theater-goes on the weekends
