Peking Restaurant is probably my favorite Chinese restaurant, and one of my favorite restaurants overall. No one should underestimate this place. It may be small and unassuming, it may be kind of dirty looking inside, but trust me, it is quality. The most recent time I went, there was no one eating when we entered. This is a shame because this place is so good. At least that means our food came fast.
The menu also makes in clear what the power dishes are. On the front page are the house specials. The first few dishes are the most popular. The Lu-ee roll is the very first thing you see on the menu. And for good reason, since it is awesome.
Later on, some people started coming in. The owner seemed to know most of the people that came in, so I assume that they are regulars or something. That’s probably because this place is so delicious that you keep going back. There was a couple that came in, and they ordered at least 4 dishes. They did exactly what we did. Overorder. That way you have leftovers and can continue the tastiness past dinner. You can also buy some dumplings frozen if you want to cook them at home.
Anyone who lives nearby who doesn’t try this place is a fool in my opinion. If I had a last meal, many of the dishes would come from this restaurant. All they need is BBQ ribs, and I am set. =D
Dishes Tried:
Lu-ee Roll
Anyone who tries this will instantly love it. Even if you don’t like beef or Chinese food you will. You will never want to go on any diet forbidding you to eat carbs, because then you know you will be missing out on a dish like this.
Shrimp Omelette (Chinese style)
A super tasty omelette, though not for the faint of heart. It is quite greasy, but worth the health cost. It has a reasonable amount of shrimp in it.
Kuo-Tieh
Comes with ten I believe, and they are a crispy delight. Mmmmm.
Chiao Tze
A good skin to meat ratio. The dumpling skin is also excellent. It has enough substance to add to the dumpling, yet not overwhelm the meat inside.

A Place People Need to Know About
Peking Restaurant (or Little Beijing, as I like to call it) is the tastiest Chinese food anywhere. A small restaurant hidden in Garden Grove, Peking Restaurant is probably known to only a few (it wasn’t even on the site until I added it!). There are many gems on the menu, particularly the House Specials. If not sure what to order, feel free to ask the kind owner for whats good. She’ll likely suggest a few of the menu items that i have below. One thing i suggest is to over order, that way you have leftovers for when you go home and crave chinese food. =D
Dishes Tried:
Lu-ee Roll
We always order two plates of this because it is possibly their best dish.
Shrimp Omelette (Chinese style)
a greasy plate sized omelette with shrimp.
General Chicken
If you like sweet and sour or orange chicken, then this is even better.

The best Hidden gem!!!
This place has the best traditional Chinese food. Whenever we have visitors from China at our workplace I bring them here and every single one of them is overly impressed. They tend to eat at this place for the rest of their visit which I don’t mind joining them. I spent a month visiting all over China and can tell you this place is homemade authentic Chinese food at its best. Reminds me of my trip to China every time. Although I don’t want this place to get busier and I think the others that always eat here would agree…this restaurant deserves the reward of being a rewarded business. Definitely the best!!! BTW, be prepared for a lot of food!
Dishes Tried:
Egg with Green Onion Pancake Roll
Add the beed to this dish and it is the best….
Pan Fried Meat Dumpling
Nothing better than these dumplings!
Roast Beef with Green Onion Pancake Roll
Chicken Pan Fried Soft Noodle
These are made from scratch and they are amazing. Add the chicken, beef, and/or shrimp to these noodles and you are in heaven
Szechuan Styel Won Ton Soup
This one is called Spicy Won ton soup and is very spicy but so flavorful. Even for a white guy like myself the spice is not too much but it is a great dish.

The BEST Chinese Food Ever
We’ve been coming here for almost 30 years and have NEVER been disappointed. We’re glad we took a walk one day when the big, fancy restaurant on the corner was either closed or overcrowded. The other reviewer was right…don’t let the looks fool you. The food is fresh, generous and delicious every time! We haven’t even lived in the OC for over 5 years now but whenever we are near we are sure to order some of our favorite, delicious dishes to take home and enjoy. A couple of items not on the menu are worth recommending (maybe they are on the menu under a different name): Dry Sauteed String Beans w/ground beef; Spicy Beef w/Glass Noodles; Fried Rice w/gravy (an egg-like gravy that makes the rice even more delicious); Cucumber Salad (a must with every meal—the vinegar based dressing is a good foil for the rich main dishes); Jelly-fish Salad.
Dishes Tried:
Combination Pan Fried Soft Noodle
My absolute favorite…ask for the homemade noodles.
Crispy Chicken
Best roasted chicken ever!
Egg with Green Onion Pancake Roll
Also the Roast Beef with Green Onion Pancake Roll is great.
Honey with Spareribs
Oh, you can’t eat just one!
Pan Fried Meat Dumpling
Simply the best dumpling anywhere. When you feel like something more soft and soothing choose the steamed dumplings.
