Pink Taco -- Good Food, LOUD Music
I can say a lot of good things about Pink Taco in Century City. Unfortunately, all of those good points are undermined by a fundamental flaw in the restaurant’s concept.
The good: Location, layout (including an outdoor patio), decor, service, and food are all amazing. I’ve had the lobster enchiladas twice. Excellent. Refreshing, new & unique versions of the standard Mexican food and decor you’ll find anywhere else.
The bad: The NOISE. “Alternative rock” music plays at dance club volume. The experience is like having dinner in the middle of a dance floor. We had to literally shout our orders to our server and he had to shout them back at us to confirm he got them right. One-on-one conversation is very difficult — unless you can read lips. Group conversation would be impossible without lots of shouting.
Pink Taco should decide if it wants to be a restaurant or a dance club — it’s ridiculous to try to be both at the same time. If the music volume were maybe 1/10th of the current level, Pink Taco would be a real winner.
Dishes I tried:
Lobster Enchiladas
Just the right flavor, and a nice alternative to the standard chicken or beef you usually find on Mexican food menus.

Loves it!
Pink Taco is one of those places that I just need to keep going back to! The last time I was there was a couple weeks ago with my friend Mike. He spent the whole night flirting with the waitress and ended up getting her number before we left! Haha! But whatever, I’m hitched so I was there for the food. That’s way better than getting some girl’s number!

fun drinks/dinner place for groups
if you’re looking for a fun/funky place to grab drinks & dinner w/friends, then pink taco isn’t a bad place to be. it’s in the west field century city mall, and has free parking for 3 hrs. it’s more haute cuisine than traditional mom ‘n pop homestyle mexican, but it’s still good. very festive, trendy, party atmosphere.
Dishes I tried:
Holy Guacamole
fresh, thick, and hearty.
Frozen Raspberry Margarita
yum…i could’ve had 3 or 4 of these. sweet stuff. not much alcohol.
Sabana de Pollo
our waitress recommended this dish, and it was just ok. chicken was surprisingly tender, but overall the dish wasn’t for me— too much of everything just globbed on top. i’ll probably try something simpler, like tacos next time.

06/30/2008When I went on Friday night (around 9) the music wasn’t too loud. We sat in a booth on the top level and it was pretty easy to talk. When did you go? I agree – those lobster enchiladas rock.
