Lousy food, lackluster service, bug in the wine glass

I was very excited to visit Huntington’s newest restaurant hotspot, Porto Vivo, since I had read at least one favorable review. Unless you want to have an overpriced drink at the nearly new place in the village, please think twice before going. Here was my experience:

The three-level space is impressive. We stopped at the bar on the second level before dining and ordered a glass of wine. I ordered Benziger Chardonnay ($14), which seemed overpriced.

The lower level dining room, where we were seated, has a view of the brightly-lit kitchen through curtains that remained open during our visit. No table clothes— plastic rattan-like placemats on a black Formica table top and fake ‘flameless’ candle. It was so noisy I could barely hear the server or my date speak.

I reviewed the dishes we had separately.

We ordered the Gabriela chardonnay by the glass ($9) with our meal; when the server finally brought me the glass I ordered, it had a BUG floating in it.

Needless to say, we couldn’t stomach the idea of dessert and we won’t go back anytime soon.

Dishes I tried:

Lobster Bisque

No lobster. Broth overwhelmed with sherry. Pasta tortelloni blob with a teaspoonful of minced seafood. Yuck!!

Served in an iron skillet, this appetizer was tasty and not greasy.

Way too salty.

Cold tuna (looked like it was grilled yesterday); cold, hard roasted potato pieces, small portion and unusual mayonnaise-based dressing. Not impressive.

Porto Vivio bonus Hair served cooked in their bread

Well, First and last time will attend. Afte.r being seated and fauned over. The weather gave menus. We were served the wine we reqeusted plus sliced bread. I bit into a slice and had a disgusting experience of biting into a clump of hair that was cooked in the bread. I don’t know if it was human or rodant. The manager called over and he said the following " we don’t cook the bread here it comes from our suppliers" – this was stated 3 times by the manager. We left. As to if their kitchen lives up to health department standards is an unknown. I have noted on a number of times kitchen staff cleaning and prepping vegetables, etc outside on the sidewalk.
Be careful if you decide to risk your health by eating at Porto Vivo
