4.0Commentary: I sound like a Pinkberry hater in this review, and after writing this, I think I am one!
Now, on with the review….
Can you say “BITTER?”
I’m not talking about the actual froyo (which was FANTASTIC), but the somewhat defensive attitude of this location’s 30-something Korean manager.
Yes, as a fellow Korean, I know all about the Pinkberry/Red Mango scandal – I know that Pinkberry stole Red Mango’s marketing and business papers, took the pictures, and opened their own branded chain before Red Mango made its debut in the states. I know that Pinkberry isn’t even “yogurt,” but a mixture of freakin’ POWDER and water. I understand and I feel your pain, but there’s no need to say:
“We’re much better than Pinkberry.”
“Pinkberry copied us.”
Yes, these were the actual words of the manager, who turned out to be one of the original owners of Red Mango, I quickly found out.
It was my first time here, but I think I’m in love. One small cup of the original creamy flavor rocked my world – it’s fat free, only 80 calories (oh, what???), contains over a billion active cultures (healthy bacteria), and tastes AMAZING – great texture and just enough sweetness…doesn’t make me squint or wince – unlike the puckery sourness that is Pinkberry.
Personally, I think Pinkberry sucks, and I, too, am irked that they ripped off Red Mango’s business, but justice will eventually prevail in the eternal Froyo Kingdom.
I prefer the tart over the flavored yogurt.
