I was staying at a hotel in Atlanta during Spring Break and I got a VERY nice paper menu shoved under my door. High gloss, graphics and everything. I was surprised to see that the prices were pretty much the same as a favorite chinese place that I like back in my small hometown in Minnesota so I decided to call and order up something for delivery.
The woman who took my order was very nice, obviously foriegn but had a good command of english and was understandable. My food was delivered in 20 minutes and the delivery guy was polite and friendly.
It states on their website that their food is fresh, they use no MSGs, peanut or lard oils. They have an extensive menu that includes desserts, soups, salads, entrees, vegetarian, lunch specials as well as the standard chinese foods.
Now I must admit that I am a picky eater, and if one place gets it just right to fit my taste then, all others never quite measure up. I don’t know if it’s those plastic containers they put chinese food in to be delivered or what, but the food always ends up being…soggy. It doesn’t matter if they use the freshest ingredients or not, soggy isn’t what I like. Not to say the food was bad, it was decent enough. It was cheap and it filled me up, but the food tasted like every other chinese place I’ve been to. There was nothing that made it stand out.
All in all, I don’t regret ordering from them. I was hungry and I was in the mood for some chinese and if you’re in the mood too, give Rice Box a try.
