5.0went for restaurant week, although it seems that the entree prices weren’t too much of a difference from the regular menu price. the bf and i shared the guacamole. Guacamole=heaven. enough said about that. he had the steak and shrimp in a spicy tomato sauce with queso fresco (i forget the actual name as u can tell) which was good. i had the alambre something or other which was just cubes of tenderloin steak and chorizo kebob style with 2 different sauces, it was absolutely delicious. portions are huge. chocolate souffle was a bummer cuz it had a sour tomatillo sauce in it, which otherwise would have been good. pricey for mex food, but given the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere, totally worth it.

3.0yes, the guacamole is as the avocado meant for it to be. as are the pomegranate margaritas. mole chicken empanadas were decent but as with most of the food here, this is where you go when you’re looking for a solid restaurant, modern space, white linens, that serves mexican food better than the nyc average—not the authentic tastes of southern california

4.0The guacamole is amazing here. I often try to imitate it at home, and it’s almost as good (pretty damn good if you ask me), but not quite the way Rosa Mexicano does it. DEFINITELY try the guacamole, they come in different levels of spiciness. Everything else is good too. Expect to pay a little more than you normally would for Mexican, but just look at the atmosphere, location and guacamole and you’ll understand.

4.0Many great appetizers, but if you have to settle for one thing, order the guacamole (made tableside). It’s probably the simplest item on the menu, but I think we can all agree that there’s nothing like good guacamole. The chunks of avocado are hearty reminders of how good Mexican food can really be. Wrap a spoonful in a warm corn tortilla and prepare yourself for heaven.
The light citrus flavors of the tuna and shrimp ceviche will make your tastebuds come alive for your platillo principale. I love the filet mignon con wild mushroom-tequila cream sauce. In fact, I’ll never get anything else.
1-star deduction for the price. I still have trouble justifying paying that much for Mexican food.
