Great food with flair

San Pedro Cafe is about 5 blocks from my home in downtown Hudson. This is THE place to get a bite on a Friday or Saturday night. Don’t forget the Sunday morning breakfast! Small and cozy, yet very colorful.
I have eaten here about 15 times, and it have not had one mediocre plate. The red beans and rice included with most meals are flavorful, though they could be a little creamier. The seafood is fresh, the pizzas are CPK brick oven style jobs with great topping combos. Most dishes have a Caribbean flair, and done quite nicely in my opinion. One of my favorite dishes is the Cuban meatloaf sandwich. The red snapper in coconut milk was probably the best entree I had last year.
Breakfast is also outstanding, mainly because it is different than your average morning fair. Scotch eggs, anyone?
The only downside to this place is the size of the drinks. They have nice cocktails, but for the price, they seem a bit small.

I HIGHLY recommend if you are in the Hudson area!

Dishes I tried:

Red Snapper w/ Coconut Milk

Fantastic, coconut milk was rich and creamy. Snapper was flaky, portion more than adequate. Red beans and rice complemented the meal perfectly!

Caribbean vacation

On Saturday we visited the San Pedro Cafe (www.sanpedrocafe.com) in downtown Hudson, WI. It is a Caribbean-themed restaurant.. Jim had the jerk-seasoned chicken breast, served with salad, red beans and rice. He loved the spicy chicken. I had the barbeque pork sandwich, which doesn’t necessarily scream “Jamaican vacation” to me, yet once I tried it, my sandwich really seemed to fit the theme. The sweet/spicy barbeque topped with jerk-seasoned roasted red peppers was delicious. It was my Mojito that made the meal, however. One sip and I was transported to a sunny beach on Grand Cayman. Jim chose Bass Ale to accompany his meal, choosing not to stray too far from his European roots. We finished our meal by sharing a piece of Key Lime Pie for dessert. Jim and I both agreed that it was good, but thought it could have been “limier”. We like our key lime good and tangy. Bottom line: we’d go back.
