I personally can’t tell one Tofu House on El Camino from another, but I do like this one. The thing that struck me immediately was that even though there’s always been a short wait every time I’ve been here, they take your order while you’re waiting… so as soon as you get seated, you get fed right away!
Their tofu bowls seemed pretty normal to me, but I did like their Bibimbap. Their stone pots seem much hotter than other places I’ve been to, so the rice gets much crispier than most other places. Their bowls are about medium sized, but they could definitely use a little more meat. Their side dishes are just ok — regular kimchee, bean sprouts, spicy daikon, zucchini, and maybe a couple of other things.
The menu itself is pretty limited, but I rarely order anything else at Korean restaurants anyway. They had a variety of tofu bowls (beef, seafood, combo), three kinds of bibimbap, three kinds of BBQ meats, and arrowroot noodles. Don’t come here if you have a craving for anything else.
Overall, good food, a pretty good value, a solid Korean restaurant.
