A Great Place for SF or Fusion first-timers!

The Slanted Door is sometimes seen as overrated, but my experiences there have been nothing sort of satisfactory. I really enjoyed the food and is a place I always take visiting family or friends.

The first time I went to Slanted Door was for a business dinner and we somehow managed to grab seats on the water front. It is beautiful especially when the sun is setting. It has a great view from the Ferry Building and great food to go with it.

The shaking beef came highly recommended and the caramelized prawns weren’t bad either. Definitely recommend this restaurant for people who want to experience fusion food or people just looking for a good place to eat.

Extra Plus: Parking is fairly easy to find and you can get it validated so you won’t pay so much from the restaurant

Slanted Door is and maybe always will be the best Vietnam...

Slanted Door is and maybe always will be the best Vietnamese/Vietnamese fusion restaurant in the world. And this is from someone who just spent that last year and a half in Vietnam. (Okay, a strong contender is Square One if you’re ever in Saigon.) And if you want more a less expensive alternative, try Unicorn on Telegraph in Berkeley. The flavors are authentic, but I really like that the restaurant invents new tastes, giving a cool twist on dishes my mom used to make. Dishes to try: Shaking beef, yellowtail tartare with shallots & basil, rice cakes, lemongrass tofu, pork chop.

Unlike anything you have ever tasted

The decor might be a little strange to some people but I find everything about this restaurant …fascinating. And as for the food…your mind goes crazy trying to figure out all the different flavors. What an exciting experience for the palate. The best thing to do is take a lot of people so that you can try everything. I have never ordered anything there that wasn’t just the most incredible thing I ever tasted. I would actually fly into San Francisco just to eat at the Slanted Door.

Fantastic cusine! You won't be disapointed!

LOCATION:
In the ferry building, parking is either in the side lot next to the building or across the street in another. The restaurant has glass windows that give you a gorgeous view of the water/ Bay Bridge. You should make a reservation well in advance if you plan to eat in the restaurant because they do get busy! They also have take out.
AMBIANCE:
Very contemporary and chic, I love everything about it! It’s upscale and elegant and reflect the ambiance of SF as a city as well. The bar is wonderful for a drink and the restaurant is great for dining out.
Beware that the bathroom is co-ed. This really didn’t bother me but other people in my party felt it was very strange.
MENU:
The food is to die for. Honestly it’s probably my favorite restaurant in SF because of the food. Everything is very refined, well thought out and you can’t choose a bad dish.
SERVICE:
Excellent. The waiters/waitresses really know the ropes and can make great suggestions. The food has always come in a timely manor. Even the hosts/hostesses are really nice and helpful. The coat check is also a nice feature.
PRICE:
Very expensive but well worth it on a special occasion.
OVERALL:
I love this restaurant. If I could I would give it 6 stars. Just go, try the food and I promise you won’t be disappointed!
