1.0The meal started off on the wrong foot, and just never seemed to regain its footing…
I was eating alone so I sat at the bar…asked for a beer to begin with, and was served a Stella Artois as flat as tapwater. After I pointed it out to the bartender (shouldn’t he have noticed when he poured it?) he was nice enough to take it back and bring me a bottled beer from their limited selection. A few minutes later, a manager came along and removed half of the taps…they must have been having some problems.
The pancetta-wrapped scallops appetizer was one (1) scallop wrapped with a scrawny slice of American-style bacon. For $12.95. I was hungry, so I ate it and moved on to a steak for the main course.
The NY Strip steak was OK — had more gristle than a nice steak should usually have, but it was certainly the high point of the meal.
“Pancetta” by Oscar Meyer wrapped around one lonely little bay scallop. Disappointing on several levels, but I ate it anyway.
OK. The steak had a bit of gristle, but it was thick, flavorful, and cooked properly. The whipped potatoes were good. The asparagus spears were overcooked.
