5.0On a recent trip to Minneapolis for a family wedding we had a few hours to kill and ended up at the Mill City Farmers Market looking for fresh apples. As it was also lunch time and Spoonriver was right there on the corner, we decided to grab a table and a bite to eat. At first glance the menu seemed a bit too eclectic for some of us in the dining party, but upon closer inspection we all found something to our liking. I loved that they were actually incorporating some of the local market vendors’ offerings in their cooking that day – very cool! Upon further inspection of their website I see that they are “Committed to the advancement of organics, the support of local growers, and serving the freshest, most delicious food possible”. Mission accomplished!
Vegetable & Potato Hash Browns,Toast
When I asked the waitress what “vegetables” were included in the hash browns and she replied “carrots and parsnips”. No hesitation there – I love parsnips and think they are very underutilized! The eggs were done perfectly – with a soft golden yolk! Hash browns were crispy without being soggy. However, a little touch of onion would have added a little “something-something” here. Overall a very nice meal!

2.0I wasn’t overly impressed with this restaurant. It’s really a very pretty restaurant and the food isn’t bad, but it’s not wonderful, either. It’s good food, but not good enough for the price that you pay. When we were there, the service was very slow and not all that friendly. I was really looking forward to this experience and I guess I was pretty letdown with it.
A little tough, nicely seasoned.
