If you ever switched schools when you were young, and sat at the wrong table in the cafeteria on the first day, and had the “cool” kids glare at you, this is how you will feel at Stayner’s Wharf if you show up early and get a good seat to see their live shows. The regulars have a real sense of entitlement despite there being no “reserved” signs posted on any of the tables. If you get to a good seat before one of the regulars does, you will be pressured to move.

The owner will back up his regulars and not the newcomers.

Halifax is such a wonderfully welcoming city: avoid Stayner’s Wharf to maintain this impression.

Staff were super friendly, told us some good times to come back for the live music. The food was fantastic, the batter on the fish was thin and crisp, the calamari was insanely good. I can’t say enough nice things about the service we received. We will be back on our next trip to Halifax. We both LOVED this place.

pan fried haddock and rice, beyond AMAZING! the rice is perfect, the sauce devine and the vegies kissed with butter. my all time fave.

I have yet to try everything on the menu, I still stick with my faves so far.

All of the staff are very friendly, personable (thats a huge one in my books, when they take the time to stop and talk without rushing off, gets my vote) and very helpful.
