This is the restaurant that replaced Firecreek. We stopped going there (along with everyone else) because the service was so bad and the food was just ok but way overpriced. I fear that the new business will suffer the same result.
We had a reservation made through Open Table. The restaurant called us to confirm, so I thought they were on it. When we arrived, they tried to seat us in the bar area. I told them I wanted a regular table. There were many available. We were told that they had a lot of reservations and tables were pre- assigned to make things easier for the staff. My response was, how about thinking about making your customer happy. They wanted us all to walk all the way back to the front to see if another option was available, when there were empty tables right there, and, we had a reservation! They were very confused.
The server came and instead of getting drink orders, proceeded to try to read the menu to us. Very condescending – we all can read and it was only one page. She spoke quietly and mumbled, so I never heard any specials if there were any.
Appetizers arrived and were OK. The cheese plate had maybe an ounce of cheese for $10. Pretty skimpy. The Italian meats were better.
Salads were very good. Probably the best part of the meal. Pear salad especially good. Unfortunately, the servers weren’t trained to clear the used appetizer dishes so there’s room for the salad dishes. We had to put them on the windowsill. The building was an old factory, so they were wide. Good thing.
The entree’s were just OK, portions pretty small.Same exercise with the used dishes diminished the experience.
All things being equal, I’ll go to Limoncello in Lionville for Italian as the food is awesome and the service fabulous.
I wonder who will be next in the old factory in Downingtown?
Not well seasoned, small portion. I thought it might be an appetizer. Sadly, no.
