II’m trying not to let my one bad experience at Sunnyside deter me from going back, but I haven’t been back yet. Last time I visited we had a rude waiter. Obviously, not a deal breaker, but after several things went wrong with our meal we didn’t even get an apology.

Can I start by saying they have the best French toast in Minneapolis! Their menu is a breakfast lover’s dream and the prices are cheap plus you get lots of food. I also love their biscuits and gravy with the poached eggs on top. I like it because it’s different, but extra hearty and delicious to us gravy connoisseurs. I’ve also heard great things from all of my other friends who have been to the Sunnyside.

Unfortunately there were some bad parts to our experience that left us with a bad taste in our mouths. I brought my boyfriend who is not originally from Minneapolis to Sunnyside one morning for breakfast. I wanted to show him all the cool little eateries in the cities, but definitely missed with this choice. Everything about my French toast was great! The bread was covered in Sunnyside’s signature cornflake mixture. The toast was crunchy and sweet with lots of texture. My boyfriend on the other hand was not so lucky. First of all there was a stray hair in his drink and when his biscuits and gravy came he found a large chunk of some kind of metal in the sauce. We didn’t get a refund, another breakfast or a sorry.

Despite our D- experience we both have decided we’d be willing to give it another try. The only problem is that I also introduced my boyfriend to Turtle Bread’s breakfast and now he’s in love. That and we’ve never found random objects in our food there. The other thing I remember about Sunnyside is that they don’t accept credit cards. Not sure if that is still the case, but don’t be thrown off if it is. Sunnyside, I hope you keep up the hard work and just be a little more careful with our food next time. I’ll let you all know how the next experience goes.
