I actually wanted to go to the ramen place in the same plaza, but it was closed on Tuesdays (which I didn’t remember). So being sick and hungry, I went to this place to get my soup noodle fix. I ordered their combo Albacore Tataki Bowl and Udon noodle. The serving was good sized and for those skinny minnies out there, they could probably share.
Anyway, I could not taste much even though I poured half a bottle of chili in my udon bowl, but I can say that this place is really authentic. A majority of the specials menu is in Japanese, and they played Japanese music softly in the background. No cell phones are allowed, which makes for a very quiet dining room. They have a huge flat screen showing some Japanese channel and I had a great time eating by myself (sans eating-along-cellphone-buddies) watching a show where a real-life monkey leads a dog on a hike. Really funny stuff even if I didn’t understand a word that was being said!
Unfortunately I could not comment on flavor, but they also had a more extensive menu that most Japanese restaurants. They had more than the usual chicken teriyaki, sashimi, etc…some stir-fried stuff, sauteed dishes, etc. All items were a bit on the high-end side, but still affordable as long as you’re not pinching pennies.
