They were trying to extract as much money as possible
Not a very relaxing meal in any sense. Maybe I am old school, but the every part of the restaurant felt like it was trying to maximize as much money from me as possible. Were in the process of sitting down and the server asks us if we would like to start with Edamame
, before we even have a chance to open the menu. Next he is suggestive selling us expensive drinks. Then he takes a minute to walk us through the menu, highlighting only the most expensive dishes and the 5 or 7 course fixed course meal. Then going to the bath room there are two nice young ladies that open the door for you for your stall, turn on the water, squeeze soap into your hand and hand you a towel, without giving you the option of doing it yourself. I really hate that. To top it all off there is a basket of cash sitting right next to the sink for tips and the top two bills in it are $5, bills. Who pays $5 to have the water turned on?
At least my entre was pretty good. Although when I order it, he asked if I wanted the more expensive option. I don’t mind paying for a nice meal, if the nice meal comes first, but in this instance, I really felt like they tried to figure out how much money was needed per person and then reverse engineered the meal to fit that amount of money. Not sure I will return here any time soon.
By the way, there was nothing environmentally friendly about the place. There are plenty of ways of being a little green without signaling it. Plus they had Chilean Sea Bass on the menu in a number of dishes. That is an over fished fish.
Dishes I tried:
Quinotto
Description: creamy peruvian quinoa, barley & fresh herbs
with wild japanese mushroom.
It was a risotto like dish. Creamy with mushrooms. I was in a vegi mood and this was the only thing on the menu that was not meat. If you are a vegetarian and like risotto and find yourself her, you should enjoy this dish.

11/22/2008Over-eager bathroom attendants really annoy me too. I think it promotes a less sanitary environment since you intimidate people into not washing or drying their hands so they don’t have the tip them. Plus the bathroom is usually somewhere private; people don’t enjoy having some guy watch as you clean yourself up.
