Sushi X

At around $20 for all you can eat sushi and Japanese food, we had to give this one a shot. We were not disappointed.

First I’ll say that if you’re looking for sushi that completely melts in your mouth and the fantastic service that you generally get at a good Japanese restaurant, this is not where you want to go. However, if you’re looking to try a lot of different things on the menu and want good food at a great price, you must check this place out.

All you can eat from both the sushi menu and the hot food menu was around $22 per person, and was served by menu – not buffet. You can also order from the regular menu as if you were in any other restaurant. I’m not sure why you’d do that though!

The service was curt but efficient. We were there on an afternoon that was not busy and were still only given the least attention necessary. Everything is served in extremely small portions, but they allow you to order as much as you want.

Appetizers were mixed. The gyoza seemed to be a chicken base and was fried, and was absolutely delicious. The edamame was cooked perfectly and not over-salted. Although it was not fabulous and could have been more acidic, the vegetable tempura was well cooked. On the downside, the miso soup was a bit bland and was rather light on tofu and seaweed, which was disappointing. Although the chicken teryaki appetizer was perfectly cooked, it was not all that flavorful. There were lots of other appetizers and hot foods on the menu.

The sushi was fresh and well prepared, but not the best I’ve ever had. The selection was good though with a lot of options. We tried the Sushi X, which was a combination of tuna, salmon and yellow tail fried in a tempura batter and generously drizzled with a spicy sushi sauce. Once again, good, but not fabulous.

The all you can eat option is topped off with ice cream or a fried banana.

I understand the drinks are somewhat expensive, but do not know that from personal knowledge.

To sum it up: good food, great price, adequate service. Worth the trip!
