Skip the tables, make a reservation for the sushi bar. If possible, try to get a seat in front of Yasuda himself. Not only will he regale you with tales of his first hair cut in some remote part of Japan, but he’ll also slice and prepare some of the best sushi you will ever find.
It’s not only the freshness, texture, and flavors of the fish that impress. The rice has the perfect tanginess and moisture, and warmth. But you’ll also get to try six different types of salmon, or two different kinds of uni (the Santa Barbara uni is the sweetest, plumpest), or seabass sashimi.

Before we started ordering spicy rolls and putting tempura crunch in everything Sushi was a delicate and highly refined national delicacy. If you want the real thing then visit this restaurant. You need to book now if you want your unborn children to get to eat before they are in their early teens and you’ll find the way they insist on all confirmations annoying. Oh – if you are any later than 15 minutes they give up your table so dont be.

Very expensive, but worth every penny. Sit at the counter with Yasuda and you will not be disappointed. Be sure to order flights of your favorite fish, you will get fish not usually available at most sushi restaurants. The last time I got a flight of toro – I recevied 5 different types of toro!

I’ve never dined here. I’ve only had delivery. The food is SOOO good!! Very authentic. The only reason why I didn’t put 5 stars is because it is VERY pricey. However, in my opinion, it’s really worth to try it at least once. DELICIOUS!

What else can you expect when you combine medium priced food with medium level service, other than mediocrity?
Yasuda doesn’t have the worst sushi we’ve ever had but it definitely comes close. We have not had such bland and similar tasting fish in quite some time. Our waitress barely spoke English and when she did it was so quiet we had to ask her to repeat herself many times which we felt bad about. We ordered a variety of sushi and sashimi to try out this “highly recommended” restaurant and were not impressed or even satisfied. No presentation skills, sloppily made rolls that look like they were mass produced rather than hand made.
The only great thing about this place is their welcome and their fish liver appetizer which was very unique and delicious.
If you like Sushi and Sashimi, do not go to Yasuda. My stomach hates me right now.

Eating in NYC is supposed to be expensive. Well, shut your faces and come to HKG where quality only rarely does the phone number looking prices justice. Yasuda wins hands down for quality/dollar, anywhere I’ve eaten in the world (perhaps with the exception of Tsukiji…) – I walked out only $25 lighter (prix fixe), but with a whole lotta wild jumpin marine life in my belly. Plus the calm, lofty blond wood (hinoki, perhaps?) interiors makes this place comfy and never pretentious.

Cat and I were super lucky to have the star chef Yasuda prepare sushi for us. It was basically omakase style with him serving us his choice of sushi. We ate til we were completely full. Unbelievable sushi, definitely the best sushi I have ever eaten. Their fish selection was as good as any I have seen even in Tokyo. While I have been to Tokyo, I don’t think I have eaten at the best Sushi place there, so I can’t really compare. His sushi definitely surpasses the best Sushi I have had in Seattle. One thing was that I was surprised at how inexpensive the sake and alcohol was! Typically these restaurants rake you over on the alcohol.
One dish worth mentioning was the flash fried Fugu! My first time, the meat was quite firm. Oh, the hand made mochi ice cream was pretty amazing too!

it’s actually not that expensive unless u get the omakase. you can still get fresh, authentic sushi even from the cheaper sets. best uni i’ve had in new york, the sea salt really works wonders. i think they have really good shell fish in general. so far my favorite sushi place in ny. went there for lunch, will definitely go again for dinner.

all i can say is omakase oh my god…there are so many “good” sushi places in new york but nowhere is the fish so fresh, so tender, so ridiculously delicious. it’s also ridiculously expensive, so either go on an expense account, find that sugar daddy, or go without electricity for the next month!
