| Summary: The SceneCandlelight flickers and tango music plays as servers in white T-shirts hustle around this low-key space, which takes up two rooms just a few doors up from the Music Box theater. The front room is no-nonsense, with white-tile floors and minimal decor; the back room warms things up with exposed-brick walls and handsome wood accents. The crowd is a casual, local mix of Spanish speakers, meat lovers and couples on dates. The FoodBeef is the focus of Tango Sur's traditional menu, with cuts ranging from the Argentine range-grown churrasco, a juicy 12-ounce sirloin served with potato wedges and chimichurri sauce, to an indulgent chef's special of "bife Vesuvio," USDA prime strip stuffed with spinach, cheese and garlic in white-wine sauce. Vegetarians aren't entirely neglected: Meatless options include spinach and cheese empanadas, a few pastas and salads of mozzarella and roasted red pepper or tomato wedges and hard-boiled eggs. | ||

Not the best experience
So went there without a rez (because they don’t accept reservations) and sat outside. The chair I sat is was wobbly, the waiter took a long time to stop by, I ran out of water and the bread was hard. It did not start out well. It is an Argentina steak house that is very popular here in Chicago. It is byob, but they recommend a great little wine shop down the street. The meal got better after the initial impression, but not sure I would return before trying others.
Dishes I tried:
Eggplant Special
Very good. In a tomato cream sauce and very filling. Would highly recommend. Was the best part of our meal.

Don’t let the crowdy and tiny place deter you, this BYOB Argentinian food is totally worth the long… wait. Its intimate and candle-lit “date-proof” atmosphere compliments those affordable and delicious grill meat and side dishes. It’s worth the big bang for your bucks!!!

Steak + BYOB = WIN
What can I say about this Argentinian steakhouse? Well, the place is very relaxed, where tables are crowded together, and people are damn near shouting and laughing all the time. It’s also BYOB, which is frickin’ fantastic.
Well, our table was tucked away in a corner, so we had a bit more privacy than other tables nearer the center of the room. Wineglasses were filled with reds, perfectly complementing the meal. I had the El Filet, in which reduced onion red wine sauce was poured over tender filets and accompanied by spinach mash potatoes. The price isn’t that bad either.
The entire atmosphere is pretty fun and relaxed, so it’s a great place for friends to come over for dinners, especially if there’s plentiful drinks!

great place to meet Argentine men!
Loved eating outside. Loved the lively group of soccer players that bought my friends and I drinks. Mostly I love the chimichuri (sp) sauce and the great steak. I am a steak girl and this place knows how to make a great steak. The only thing that ...
