This is a lunch dish and not a spicy item. You get a square of crispy tofu served on top of a yellow sauce, including green peas and onions. Don’t make those gagging noises about tofu, this is so light that it could be mistaken for fish. Ask for a spoon, there is a decent amount of liquid and you want to lap up every drop.

This is an alcoholic beverage. The menu lists Sortilege (Quebec maple whiskey) as the alcohol, but they were out of it and substituted a Vermont organic maple liqueur (sorry didn’t catch the name). And the hot coffee was topped with whipped cream and drizzled carefully with maple syrup. A pleasantly sweet ending to the evening.

This is by far the best deal in the restaurant. This is a continental breakfast that includes: coffee or tea (free refills), big glass of cold juice, hot toast (choice of 4 breads), choice of humongous fresh pastries, choice of cereal. Yes ALL of the above! Butter and jam are on the table. Bring your appetite, you’ll need it!

(Do you think this is too many calories in the morning?! If so you can walk it off among the 18 acres of gardens on the property.)

From the dinner menu: A thick slab of meatloaf is coated in a sweet barbecue sauce (not sugary, not spicy, just right) and served with whipped mashed potatoes, broccoli, carrots, and “tobacco” onions (crispy strands of fried onion, does not contain tobacco). Very tasty.

The croissants are baked fresh every morning and come in plain, chocolate, almond, and ham & cheese. Perhaps other flavors too, that is what was available this week. I tried the chocolate and almond ones. They are huge and flaky! The filling is so thick it oozes out both ends. (Luckily, finger-licking is not frowned on.) Look for the small chunks of almond in the almond filling. And both flavors are intense without being cloying. This is a meal in itself!

This is a layered creation with oat-studded granola, vanilla yogurt, and seasonal fruit. Mine had blueberries, strawberries, and one day a few bits of peach. This is very filling! And just the right amount of sweetness.

Yes I actually picked a dessert to eat without chocolate! A scoop of raspberry mousse sits atop a thin ginger shortbread, topped with a couple of fresh raspberries, a stick of crystallized ginger, and a dot of whipped cream. Marching around the mousse were dots of ruby-red raspberry coulis and chunks of spiced peaches. Oh this was incredible! The ginger just sang without overpowering any of the fruit.
