After a long absence, I returned to Thai Tanic yesterday. I was glad that I did.
With two friends, we split two apetizers (spring rolls and satay). The spring rolls were among the best I have had in a while. The satay were ok but the sauce was a bit too sweet.
I ordered one of the specials – fried shrimp with ground chicken. It was nicely spiced, hot, prompt and delicious. The only negative was that there was a lot of sauce and the presentation ended up being a little sticky and soggy once the sauce soaked the fried shrimp. The portion was huge in fact too much but I enjoyed what I had.
One of my companions enjoyed the drunken noodle very much. The other was dissatisfied with his dish which was too sweet (chicken and pineapple in a red sauce). It looked like old fashioned Chinese food and was not very Thai.
Overall, I like Thai Tanic because it is a fun, cozy neighborhood place. The food is good, the atmosphere is fun, and the prices are reasonable. I would recommend it especially for an easy night out.
I noticed that it was crowded and does a good carry out business too.
