Rated excellent by The New York Times. The service is gracious and careful, with an eye toward educating the clientele. Eating at Thali is like taking a crash course in the diversity of Indian cuisines , and it is tremendous fun. As good as the food is here, the desserts stand out.

High End Indian

Thali is a beautiful restaurant in New Haven’s Ninth Square, an area with a ton of new restaurants. The bar is really cool (for lack of a better word) ….a nice place to get a great martini. The food is definitely top notch Inidan. I tried a bunch of dishes and they were all delicious. That said, this is pretty pricey for Indian food. I ordered Grandma’s chicken which was full of fresh spices, and very spicy, just as I asked. Other dishes were also great, but not necessarily better than the good cheaper alternatives around New Haven. (There are a couple). All in all, a much nicer restaurant than any other Indian in the area with excellent food.

Thali has a very big buffet on the weekends and the prices are ok. Unfortunately the food is not pure Indian, it is more of a fusion of Indian and who knows what... If you want to eat a lot and are not too discriminating, its a good…

Be careful of double charging.

The food was great here, not so much the customer service. I have been to the New Canaan and New Haven venues. I took my parents out for dinner here only to check my bank account the next day to see that the restaurant charged me twice…
