This may not be the best ever, but what I had was good. The pricing is a little bit higher than a place like Sam Woo, but totally on par with Hong Kong cafe places.
Service: the one young guy server, the only male server, was bad. But the others were good. And the cashier completely and very smartly redeemed any bad service I experienced.
Wonton noodle soup: broth: flavor was on target but it was oily, but still tasted clean. Noodles: a little bit under cooked, maybe they were in too much of a rush bc of all the customers? Wontons: texture and flavor were on target; practically all shrimp, with a teeny bit of pork. My personal preference is for a higher ratio of pork.
Pork and preserved egg jook: I only got this flavor jook bc the pic on the menu looked great, I thought, good something different. But it was false advertising. However the jook was fine. Similar to a lot of pork/preserved egg jook you can get at most places. Consistency was right in the middle, not too thick, not too thin.
Wonton noodles: $5.50 (keep in mind the all shrimp wontons)
Pork/preserved egg jook: $4.75
Sam Woo:
Wonton noodles: $4.25, and still the best wonton noodles.
Pork/preserved egg jook: $4.50
Harbor Kitchen:
wonton noodles: $5.25
pork/preserved egg jook: $5.25
Noodle World: now that’s gross.
