Great place to patio

Long time Denver residents will remember the French restaurant formerly located at Colfax Avenue and Eudora Street known as “Tante Louise”, (Aunt Louise in French). The bistro didn’t make it, but, in it’s place arose a new contender, “The Cork House”.

They advertise this as a Wine Bar and they do, indeed, have a nice selection of wines, but, more than that, they have an outstanding patio. The patio outside is at least as big as the indoor dining area, it is on three levels, and is almost completely secluded from the busy street it sits on. With trees and other foliage adding to the shade, groups of almost any size can meet and enjoy wine, beverages, and a variety of appetizing food choices in clandestine comfort.

They have a daily happy hour with nice discounts on beer, wine, cocktails and appetizers. We sampled a variety of appetizers and found some we liked as well as others that were not so hot. Nonetheless, the value is good, the beverages are good, and the ambience is just as nice inside as out.

Don’t take my word for it. Take a look at the slide show, see what they have to offer, and keep The Cork House in mind if you are ever in the vicinity of Colfax and Colorado Boulevard at happy hour. Located just a few blocks east is this nice place to take oasis and refuel for the evening.

Dishes I tried:

Baba Ganouj

This is $5 at happy hour, but $7 at all other times. Unless you just have to have some, skip it. It was bland, had the wrong texture and I could taste no tahini at all.

Hummus

Same deal as the Bab Ganouj. $5 at happy hour and $7 at other times. Also, good to skip. It was runny, had little flavor and no taste of tahini at all. I like the Athenos Hummus I get at the deli a lot better and it is a lot cheaper! Skip this one!

Sweet Potato Fries

Go for it. These are a good value and have excellent flavor. They satisfy and soak up the beer at happy hour. An excellent choice.

Good food, excellent happy hour, friendly staff

I have always loved this restaurant for the selection of wine and delicious food. They have great happy hour deals too. I had my rehearsal dinner here and all of my guests loved it. It was a beautiful night.

Good restaurant down and on the way out...

I'm a Denver native, enjoyed Tante Louise way back, was thrilled with the Cork House when they opened, loved it and became a semi-regular (live in the hills), brought lots of friends … but sadly, last visit was my last time there and I…

Best Happy Hour and Patio in Denver

This place is so great in the summer. They have such a beautiful patio and lots of great specials during the week. Happy hour is awesome, with drink specials and appetizer specials (they make a great extra dirty martini). The cheese…
