After recently moving into the area, I searched online to find unique spots to eat. I dug through numerous sites, and after a few hours of digging I was scared away from the Eclectic Chef by a negative (and rather verbose) review.
I later decided (this past Friday) to pack away my fears of bad service, and give it a shot anyway… Surprise, Surprise! The food was great!! This was only complemented by the great service.
This led me to go back and re-read some of these reviews. It’s funny that the name varies but the words stay the same, verbatim. From your knowledge of the menu ABanks42, one can surmise that you are a scorned employee or bitter competition.
Get over your hang up… you almost made me miss a good meal.
Very generous helping of Roast beef, piled upon fresh Foccacia and topped off with red peppers and onions and some sort of horseradish sauce. They offer a choice of Chedder or Mont. Jack cheese….. The chedder did the trick.
I chose to eat mine with a side of pot. salad

The dishes are unique and imaginative. There is always a variety of interesting foods available for a main course, from the stuffed peppers to the Turkey With Brie Bacon and Apple. When you are done with your lunch or dinner, you definitely want to try one of their delectable desserts. The ones I have tried so far are the strawberry cheesecake, layered chocolate cake, and the lemon squares. My favorite is the lemon squares; a sweet and tangy treat that’s not too sour or too sweet. All of these confections are perfectly prepared, and often garnished with some whipped cream or chocolate sauce drizzled on the plate. The servings are generously portioned and are quite filling. I like to accompany my dessert with a blended coffee (a flavored and iced coffee topped with whipped cream). Their homemade muffins are large and another of my favorite things to get. I especially like the chocolate and the blueberry ones. If you are thirsty, you can get a glass of water garnished with orange… something unique I had never tried until I went there.
The staff at the Eclectic Chef know how to keep it fresh with their creative dishes exceptional service. It’s a great place to have lunch and chat with a friend or discuss business with a coworker over a coffee. I recommend it to anyone who has not tried it yet.

I have been a fan of the Eclectic Chef ever since it’s opening. From the amazing pasta salad to the great gourmet to go, the Eclectic Chef has become a staple of the small Summerville dining scene. My personal favorite is the Strawberry Bleus salad. Loaded with fresh strawberries and candied pecans this salad is to die for. I have never had an issue with the staff and have always had quite an enjoyable experience while dining there. While the portion sizes have fluctuated it does not deter from the quality of the food. As long as they keep the fresh ingredients and friendly staff I will continue to go there. To the other reviewer I recommend going back again. The Eclectic Chef is, in my opinion, quiet wonderful!
Fresh Strawberries with candied pecans…can’t beat that. One of the freshest salads I have ever had.

I used to like this little restaurant in the heart of Summerville. The food was great and you got plenty of it. I would always see at least one welcoming smile as I got up to the counter.
I have been coming to The Eclectic Chef for probably 2 years or more now. After the beginning of this year things went far downhill. The service lacks because the wait staff is far too busy talking to each other or just acting as though they wished you would go away. The food is not longer as large an amount or as tasty. Prices have gone up, but food quality has gone down. Consistency is an issue. And at these prices, the food should come on a plate, not a plastic basket.
Overall, I do like the gourmet-to-go, but my family and I will not be returning anytime soon just because the staff is rude.
I seem to remember getting more apple and brie last time, and much left pesto mayo on this sandwich. The bacon is pre-packaged pre-cooked, and the turkey leaves much to be desired. The bread was wonderful, though I miss the days when it was round Foccacia. The pasta salad, as always, is to die for.

I'm so glad my family and I ignored a couple of these blogs! We had a WONDERFUL experience here and will definitely return... the salads and sandwiches both were so fresh - much better than fast food. You DEFINITELY get what you pay for…
