Newtown Grill afka Alberto's

Well, well, well,
They did it.
Lower prices, spectacular bar & bar menu.
A great turnoround. You must go see it. The Newtown Grill is the place to be. I went with a friend to the bar and had the Filet Mignon Slider: fantastic. The pizza was good as well. On Friday Cosmopolitans are $ 5:00.
I will frequent this place very often. Two HD TV at the bar.

Very Good Food, BYOB on Sundays

This restaurant is great. The prices are right and the choices are many. You can bring your bottle of Wine on Sunday-they also have a liquor license- and there is no corkage fee. Four of us had dinner there on the SUnday before Valentine’s Day, each of us had appetizers, (Bruscettas, Antipasto, Scamoraz & Pear Salad) Main Courses ( Pastas and Chicken, as well as Steaks) and two desserts. The tab ,with tip,was about $100.00. We bought our bottle of Cabernet. A bargain in comparison to the previous expensive Alberto’s.
The place seems to be jumping at the bar and the service is good. A great turnaround. We will be back. Very good food.

Might as well have been my local chain restaurant

I’d read a good review about this place – that it was updated and contemporary with good food and service. That certainly was not our experience.

The atmosphere made me think “cheap,” not a fun night out – blue and yellow with orange sponge-painted walls, bright lighting. Except for the valet, the service was uncaring and not at all friendly. They tried to rush us through everything. They corrected an incorrect dish pretty quickly, but they were pretty lax about it – no one seemed at all apologetic about it. Worst of all, though, the food was truly dull – not really horrible, but at best on par with your typical local chain restaurant. The wine by the glass tasted old and stale.

If your idea of a great night out is a chain restaurant, this place may be good for you. If you’re looking for really great food or a great atmosphere, though, try something else.

As a note, we didn’t hang out in the bar, but it looked OK.

Disappointed

We chose to go to The Newtown Grill to try something new and I will never go back again.

The only positive thing that could be said about this restaurant is that the food was not horrible. But that does not nearly make up for all of the negatives considering there are plenty of other restaurants in the area with better food and a better atmosphere.

The waiter was not friendly.
They brought out the wrong appetizer.
They forgot the dinner salad.
We ordered calamari and mussels for appietizers and were told they would give us family style (there were 6 of us). My logical assumption would be that meant a larger portion for a higher price. I was in shock when our bill was calamari 3 @ 7.95= 23.85 and mussels 3@ 6..95=20.85, especially since the portion was that of a single appetizer at any other restuarant.
We also ordered tiramisu to take home with us. I looked in the box when I got home (which was a 10 min drive) and was disgusted. It looked like vanilla pudding swirled with chocolate with a strawberry on top. Since when do you put a strawberry on Tiramisu.

I would absolutley recomend going to Fellini’s, Tratoria Guiseppe, Giampino’s, Maggiano’s or Vinny T’s over this dump!!!

Worst Service Ever

I ate there last night for Valentines Day and the food was really good. Unfortunately the service was terrible. I expect slowness for Valentines Day but this was bad. We were seated quickly but after half an hour, not a single person had spoken to us about drink orders or anything. Finally they take our drink and food orders after sitting there 40 minutes. The food takes over an hour to come after numerous questions and the wine came after the food. The waitstaff never came to us to offer consolation, we always had to seek them out. This was happening all over the dining room I was in. For as expensive as our food was I expect to have a much better experience. Even for Valentines Day this level of incompetent service is unacceptable. Avoid this restaurant!
