Can’t believe the spaghetti with brown butter and mizithra cheese hasn’t been mentioned. I love that. I also get the manager’s special with half meat sauce and half brown butter and mizitra. Just delicious. The brocolli is also wonderful with the brown butter and mizithra. You get alot of food for little money. Under $10. I love the blue cheese salad dressing.

Terri and I starte eating at the Old Spaghetti Factory in the Gas Lamp district of San Diego… before it was known as the Gas Lamp Distict… in … I think… 1972. The location in San Marcos opened years ago… but for some reason we just never seemed to think of it. Meanwhile… the restaurant that pioneered below Broadway… by itself… lost their lease because of the success they helped to create.

We went on a walking tour of the Gas Lamp Recently… and found out about them being gone… thought what a bummer… and thought … why don’t we try the new one in San Marcos… you know the new one that has been there for about 15 years :-)

So off we go… no longer young kids… willing to stand around a liter of cheap red wine… on the sidewalk … below Broadway… just to get in.

Wasn’t crowded… should be… it was a kick. Same menu… we found our old favorites… Service was excellent… really excellent.. and they have a Seniors Menu that is dirt cheap.

Soup or Salad… fresh baked bread… beverage… and spumoni or vanilla Ice Cream for Desert. On the Senior Menu… $8.95… amazing…. and it was delicious. I give this place five stars for excellence… and another five for value.

Call drink that I pay $11.00 for in the Gas Lamp today… $5.50… Wine… still cheap. :-)
