A New Breed of Pancakes

Pros: Great selection of pancakes. Very diverse menu for people who want more than just what’s in the name. Great prices. Great views.

Cons: Service was a little slow. The outside seating wasn’t so comfortable.

Overall: My first out of New York review. This restaurant can be found in Boulder Colorado on Canyon Blvd, right next to the Mariott Hotel. Went for breakfast one day and automatically compared it to IHOP. It had the same feel, sounds, smells, but something was different. We waited for 10 minutes before being seated in the outside area, far from the interior noise that polluted the air. After a longer than usual wait we were given menus with a brief history of the restaurant as well as an impressive variation of pancakes, waffles, french toast, you name it and they got it. You also can’t help but stare at the Rockies right next to the restaurant and wonder why people would want to leave here. I decided to go with the Swedish Pancakes because, well, I never had them before. I also picked up a side of biscuits and gravy since we were in western America so it doesn’t hurt to try. My pancakes came and my mind was blown. Flat pancakes! They were about a foot in width and a foot and a half in length. You can describe them as way oversized crepes. They came with butter, syrup, and lingonberry sauce from Sweden. By far the most bizarre looking, but overall tasty pancakes. The biscuits and gravy had an overwhelming amount of gravy on it. It was a classic bechamel (one of the French mothersauces) with lots of fresh cracked pepper. If you can get passed the gravy, the buttery biscuits are a sure treat. Still, there was enough gravy to fill two bowls of soup. Overall, next time I visit Colorado, I would come again to try a new breed of pancake, but chances are I’ll just be asking for biscuits and not the gravy.

Dishes I tried:
