Loud and Greasy....not so cajun
OK, people keep wanting to take me to the Palace Grill, and I do not quite get all the hype of this place. The service is nice, but the place is very loud and built like an echo chamber. On friday nights, I do like the magician guy who makes you write on a playing card that he magically make appear on the ceiling, or was I already drunk when he got to our table? Hmmm Anyway, that’s why I don’t drink anymore, so the food….. The food is mostly over fried stuff that reminds me of charred bodies at a crash site. It is more batter and breading than the contents within, leading me to believe that you could stuff it with napkins and I wouldn’t know the difference. I usually feel heavy and sick for two hours after I eat there. I have been to Cajun Restaurants in Louisiana and I know cajun food, and this isn’t what I remember.

Disappointing!!
I understand that this is a Santa Barbara ‘establishment’, but I have no idea why. I guess the ambience is kind of upbeat and fun, but I would just call it loud and messy. The food was terrible. Bad quality; not what I would call cuisine at all. It was a cajun diner, but the price did not relect this level of service or restaurant. I would not recommend this place at all. It is no palace! There are a million great choices for dinner in Santa Barbara; this is certainly NOT a good one.
Dishes I tried:
Divers' Scallops
Just okay. Nothing special. I have had far better for much cheaper.
