Favorite Sushi!

The best sushi restaurant in Austin! The fish is always fresh and the experience there is incredible. Very upscale, but with a more casual atmosphere. The chef creates some wonderful sushi dishes: there’s everything from the standard rolls to sushi served with fruit. I definitely recommend trying the Shag roll!

okay

it is not my cup of tea. I just like basic sushi and all they had were fancy sushi dishes. I will not be back. II am a beginner to sushi.

chefs special

It is not good for a begiiner like me. It is good for an adventureous sort of person.

outstanding japanese food. Tempura was perfectly done and not served with just your standard stuff. some yellow tail mixture with nuts & apple shaving was perfectly seasoned. beef belly and some sliced beef dish just melted in my mouth. Uchi shot wasn’t worth it cause the wine masked the flavor of the uni and quail yolk. Dessert (peanut butter stuff) was unique and tasty. overall pricy but worth it. would recommend at least trying the place out.

We are proud to announce...
Chef Tyson Cole, winner of the 2011 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Southwest--Thank you Uchi and Uchiko family and friends for your support!

Uchi showcases the culinary talents of executive chef and sushi master Tyson Cole, winner of the "best new chef in America 2005" by Food and Wine magazine. His exciting menu expands on the Japanese tradition with new flavors and influences. Uchi means "house," and like many sushi bars in Japan, Uchi is located in a refurbished old home. Its vibrant design adds a fresh dimension to the neighborhood and has been warmly received by Austin's diverse dining crowd.
Uchi accepts a very limited number of reservations and reserves the majority of the dining room for walk-in availability. Most seating is done on a first-come, first-serve basis. All parties must be complete before being seated.
