Victor’s has all the right atmosphere for a coffee shop: Lots of wood and light make it comfortable, if you can get a seat; it was crowded when I got there at 10-ish on a Saturday. The place also has a nice patio, which looks like it would be a great place to sit in better weather.
There’s a huge bread/pastry case, filled with bagels, cookies, and cakes, and the baristas behind the counter seem take their coffee very seriously. (And Victor’s has a pretty good-looking menu of fancy coffee drinks, too, if you’re into that sort of thing.) Victor’s also makes sandwiches (you can’t throw an Illy cup in a coffee shop without hitting a panini press anymore, apparently), and I think I saw a couple of plates of waffles piled high with whipped cream and fruit.
Victor’s seems like it’s definitely the place to be for good coffee and atmosphere in this part of town.
Good cappuccino in a hefty ceramic mug. The foam lasted my entire meal, and the milk was proportioned just right. Be sure to tell the baristas how you like it.
Yum! Scrambled eggs with a nice bit of moisture still in them (they haven’t been cooked to oblivion), with a choice of meat and cheese. I went with the prosciutto (slightly salty, just a bit of bite) and cream cheese, and quite enjoyed it. The meat/cheese options are slightly quirky, but interesting (except for the run of the mill cheddar): Next time I’ll try the smoked salmon with fontina. The sandwich is built with grilled sourdough, which fortunately was not excessively buttered or oiled (the quickest way to wreck a good sandwich). I’ll have one of these again, to be sure.

So i’m a student and spend about 2/3 of my spending cash in coffee shops. I hit coffee shops about 7 or more days a week to study.
I wanted to check out a new place with a good atmosphere and found victors. the atmosphere is great but the owner kicked me out after an hour. and check this out, there were only about 5 other tables being used, it was slow. he lost my business for sure.
this is a stupid practice on victors part. if I or any other student found victors to be hospitable I probably would have, after a few hours of studying, spent another few bucks and then come back the next day. well now I will never go back unless it’s a quick stop for a cup o’ joe on the way to school.
the only reason I gave it two stars is for the great feel of the place. (which you’re not allowed to enjoy.)
Good food, soft and flavorful.

03/31/2007That’s a drag. I enjoy the feel of Victor’s, but it’s not cool to ask customers to leave.
