I was recently enjoying a leisurely Saturday morning with a friend, catching-up over steamy cups of espresso at Victor’s Celtic Coffee Co in downtown Redmond. Our pleasant morning ended abruptly when we were informed by the owner that they “needed our table (because) there are customers waiting”. Apparently 2 cups of coffee at $3.50
per cup only buys you one hour of table time at Victor’s. Sure, the coffee house was busy. But my expectations in visiting a coffee house is to be able to sit, relax, enjoy my cup of coffee, visit with friends or enjoy my book or newspaper, and enjoy the aroma of the espresso. I am a supporter of individual coffee houses and restaurants. I love the individuality and “small town feel” and had frequently recommended Victor’s coffee house
to friends and co-workers. It saddens me that I will now be rescinding those recommendations and going elsewhere for my coffee dates.

Victor’s has all the right atmosphere for a coffee shop: Lots of wood and light make it comfortable, if you can get a seat; it was crowded when I got there at 10-ish on a Saturday. The place also has a nice patio, which looks like it would be a great place to sit in better weather.

There’s a huge bread/pastry case, filled with bagels, cookies, and cakes, and the baristas behind the counter seem take their coffee very seriously. (And Victor’s has a pretty good-looking menu of fancy coffee drinks, too, if you’re into that sort of thing.) Victor’s also makes sandwiches (you can’t throw an Illy cup in a coffee shop without hitting a panini press anymore, apparently), and I think I saw a couple of plates of waffles piled high with whipped cream and fruit.

Victor’s seems like it’s definitely the place to be for good coffee and atmosphere in this part of town.

Some of the best coffee in Redmond, and in a great atmosphere. Not nearly as customer-friendly since Victor and Jane left for Cannon Beach, though :(

So i’m a student and spend about 2/3 of my spending cash in coffee shops. I hit coffee shops about 7 or more days a week to study.
I wanted to check out a new place with a good atmosphere and found victors. the atmosphere is great but the owner kicked me out after an hour. and check this out, there were only about 5 other tables being used, it was slow. he lost my business for sure.
this is a stupid practice on victors part. if I or any other student found victors to be hospitable I probably would have, after a few hours of studying, spent another few bucks and then come back the next day. well now I will never go back unless it’s a quick stop for a cup o’ joe on the way to school.

the only reason I gave it two stars is for the great feel of the place. (which you’re not allowed to enjoy.)
