The food at Yard House is good California fare, but don’t fool yourself, you’re there for the beer. They have over 120 beers on tap, and all are available in standard sizes (pint, etc.) as well as in a huge half-yard tall glass. (They used to serve Yard-tall beers as well before an drunk driving-related lawsuit forced them to scale back their glass sizes).

Great location – right across the street from Horton Plaza and on the edge of the Gaslamp district, so you’re within walking distances of hundreds of bars and clubs. Petco Park is about a ten minute walk away.

Came here with a group of guys, and I had the unfortunate job of being the DD. They all seemed to enjoy their beers, a lot. The “hobgoblin” was a favorite; pretty soon nearly everyone was drinking that.

We had dinner too. The nachos were nothing special, but that’s ok because I saved room for the Lamb Chops, which were fantastic. I don’t know what was in the sauce that came with them but it was addictive. A friend had the shrimp and base on the few tastes they were very good too. Everyone seemed to like their meal.

The atmosphere was also a lot of fun, a little yuppie but mostly people out to have fun. We certainly did.
