I’m within walking distance of Yau’s Chow but always need to take the car because I can never just get one entree so there’s too much to carry.

I eat mostly a plant based diet and I’m a bit picky on top of that. My main orders are Vegetarian Delight, Vegetable Fried Rice and Vegetable Lo Mein. When I did dabble with some meat dishes, their Lemon Chicken was superb!

My order will always have the instruction “No mushrooms. Extra Broccoli”. And they are happy to accommodate the special orders.

The food is very tasty – you can always find a restaurant that does this or that dish “better than anyone” so if you’re looking for stunning food, find another place. But Yau’s is consistently yummy and an excellent value. Everyone who lives in the area seems to agree – I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about their food, and I’ve lived here 12 years.

They have a great selection of Lunch Specials as well, for under $6.00 though for these I don’t believe they’ll do substitutions.

There’s no restaurant seating, so it’s either take-away or their recent addition of delivery (after 3pm, I think). This helps them keep their prices down. If I get the large Veg Delight, I have enough food for four meals, so to me it’s money well-spent.

I keep a copy of their menu in the house and one in the car. If I ever find myself eating from a different Chinese Restaurant, it’s only because I’m not at home. For me it’s always Yau’s.
