5.0Their logo says “Famous for Seafood since 1905”, and that says it all. Who knew that the best seafood to be had would be found in Allentown, and not closer to the Shore. My family was introduced to Youell’s when we moved to the area last year. Everyone told us that it is “the place for seafood in the Lehigh Valley”. We have never been disapointed. From the decadent crab bisque and flavorfull clam chowders right through to homemade pies for dessert, Youell’s is top quality. The service is friendly and professional. The atmosphere is casual fine dining. We generally make reservations because they can get busy, particularly on weekends. Youell’s specializes in crabmeat dishes, crabcakes (no filler), fresh fish and shellfish. Sauteed, broiled or fried, there is something for everyone. We always check out their website to see what the chef has as a special. We have been amazed at some of his offerings: Paella, Bouillabaisse, Braised Lamb Shank, Stuffed Trout, the list goes on and on…Oh, the Soft Shell Crabs (in season) are not to be missed. I’m starting to make myself hungry!
Fresh, boneless Rainbow Trout, sauteed in brown butter and served with sauteed fresh spinach and gorgonzola cheese, then topped with lump crabmeat.
Expertly prepared with a depth of flavor that reflects each of the ingredients. The freshness of the fish and spinach is complimented by the richness of the browned butter and melted gorgonzola cheese.
Jumbo lump crabmeat en casserole with a sharp cheese sauce. Served with toasted slices of french bread
Large, plump crabs, sauteed in butter and finished with fresh garlic, lemon juice and white wine. The aforementioned pan sauce makes the dish. Served on toated baguette slices, the crabs are meaty with a very soft shell. An excellent choice during the season (spring and summer).
