Phenomenal food!
I sometimes wonder how to rate a place when there’s so many different layers involved with the experience and the degree of variation between all of them can be so extreme. For instance, what if the place was absolutely gorgeous, ambiance couldn’t be better, service was impeccable, menu was captivating, the bartenders were true mixologists, the presentation was so flawless you almost regretted having to eat it but… the food itself was mediocre? Or there’s the other extreme: everything leading up to your meal could be forgettable… maybe even borderline bad… but you get that one dish that is so out-of-this-world that you’re practically craving it again before you even walk out the door. It’s the best thing you ever ate. How do you rate your experience? Well, I am giving Zaafaran menuism’s top rating and hope you read between the lines!
Service. I was warmly greeted at the door. Bartender John chatted with me about the Happy Hour drinks and decided to get creative… he whipped up a mojito with gin instead of rum. Very tasty! Our server Devani was nice but stupid. She didn’t know anything about the food, couldn’t answer any of our questions, hadn’t tried anything on the menu, wasn’t sure of any of the ingredients and when we asked her to describe something, she read off the menu. Her excuse was that she’s a vegetarian. Fine. If you don’t want to try something yourself, ask your fellow servers what they think. Bottom line: you must be knowledgeable about the product you are selling. If not, start looking for another job. No excuse.
Food. Wow. Phenomenal. I can’t say enough good things about it! Everything was fantastic… we were all so blown away that all the dishes kept getting passed around. All of our entrees probably made at least three turns around the table.
Pace. One of my fellow diners kindly described the pace as “relaxed.” That’s not the word I would use. Glad we weren’t in a hurry… the whole thing took three hours, start to finish. When we first arrived, we were one of two tables there. After they left, we were the only table for the reminder of the evening.
