Papacelle
Sep 13, 2008
It's a matter of time
Don’t bother eating at Papcelles unless you want to be told how to enjoy their food. I have eaten there at least a half dozen times, and will not go back. I’ve sampled pasta dishes, salads, sandwiches, soups and fish. They are so proud and focused on being the only authentic Italian restaurant in the valley that they serve their food ONLY in the manner they choose. If you order a sauce with your pasta, forget it. If you ask for your pasta dish to be served with a different sauce that they offer, forget that too. I ordered fettucini carbonara only to find that there is no cream sauce, and the chef took it upon himself to dress the dish with a lot of black pepper (which I dont’ even like). I had a spinach sald that contained so much black pepper, that I could not eat it. You will not find Salmon, Veal, Shrimp and many other desirable items on their menu. They have come up with one of the worst menus that I’ve ever seen. Monkfish and fluke? Like that is something I’ll order on a regular basis? NOT. I sent friends there for dinner only to learn that they had a violin player there going from table to table with a tip jar hanging from his belt loop! How tacky is that? The wait staff is not experienced and very unprofessional. I witnessed one of the waiters arrivng to work with his shirtails hanging out and comletely disorganized like he had just woken up. At one meal eaten at the bar, I was verbally scoled by the bartender when I sent my dish back because I could not eat it. It’s a matter of time before they realize that they will not survive with menu offerings and a very partonizing attitude towards their patrons. My advice, try giving people what they want to eat instead of what you think they should eat. Is it truly benath you to have Veal Parm on the menu? Or possibly some truly great sauces for your pasta dishes? I ordered the ravioli which was very tasty, but it came out with no sauce on it after I had requested extra sauce. The best offering is the gelato for dessert. But at $9 you have to ask yourself is it really that good? Don’t bother going to Papacelles unless you want to struggle with a ridiculous menu, have poor waitstaff wait on you and be told that this is how we do it in Italy !

Crepes
Dont order the tenderloin crepes for an appetizer – they are not just mediocre and not worth the high price.
